J.J. Castings handles a huge variety of components.  We cater for one-off, as well as mass production orders for the automotive industry.

INDUCTION HARDENING

The maximum length we can induction harden vertically is 7000mm. The maximum diameter Induction hardened to date is a tube 1205mm outside diameter 1116mm inside diameter 2200mm long.

The smallest diameter would be 6mm to 8mm.   Generators range from 25 kw @ 450 kHz to 1000 kw @ 3 kHz.

FURNACE WORK

Operational from 1971,  all furnaces are extremely accurate being electrically fired and computer controlled

  • quenching facilities.
  • Maximum temperature 900oC to 1000oC.
  • Maximum length furnace – 9900mm long x 3900mm wide x 2500mm high (can accommodate 40 tonnes load)
  • Maximum height furnace – 3000mm high x 3000mm wide x 5000mm long (can accommodate 20 tonnes load)
  • Smaller furnaces down to 500mm x 500mm x 500mm approx.

PLASMA NITRIDING

JJ Casting installed  the first Plasma Nitriding facility in the UK in 1976

  • Maximum height furnace – 5900mm x 1100mm diameter.
  • Items can be suspended or stood vertically.
  • Maximum diameter furnace – 2000mm x 2000mm high.
  • Smallest furnace – 500mm diameter x 750mm approx.

P.V.D. COATING

Operation from 1983

Coats available:- Titanium Nitride, Titanium Aluminium Nitride, Chrome Nitride.
  • Maximum length 1m approx.
  • Maximum diameter 1m approx.
  • Lowest coating temperature 250oC approx.

The coatings are applied to all sorts of tools and knives, for decorative application, for motor sports, surgical parts and food equipment.
